XTRACYCLE IS PROUD TO SPONSOR STEPHEN SUMNER IN HIS EFFORTS TO ALLEVIATE AND CURE PAIN WORLDWIDE WITH A LONGTAIL CARGO BIKE.

Scientists have long been baffled by the phenomenon of phantom limb pain experienced by amputees. As a result, this pain has often gone under reported and untreated. Stephen Sumner, himself an amputee due to a car accident, has developed a unique, low-cost, high-impact treatment for phantom limb pain using mirrors (to help amputees visualize their missing limb). His organization, Me and My Mirror, based in Vancouver B.C. provides free mirrors and pain relief treatment for people worldwide. What’s more, Stephen chose, years ago, to use a cargo bike as his in-country mode of transport.
We are excited to help Stephen use a cargo bike more effectively to carry his gear from village to village often on rough terrain. Stephen approached us about upgrading his existing longtail to an Xtracycle noting the lower center of gravity and strong Chromoly steel frame.
We are inspired to help Stephen along his journey with a donation, and we’d encourage you to learn more about Me and My Mirror by clicking here.
“Xtracycle gave me this crazy-beautiful bike in order to go out there and make a difference. And I will. And all those old adages about plans and intentions and hope and shit can kiss my ass. Watch me go.” – Stephen Sumner
We know that people who ride Xtracycles are people with a vision for the world – and stoked enough to do something about it. In our donation to Stephen, we honor your commitment to ride bikes, and carry stuff.
