When it comes to biking, Elle means business. She even rode to Practical Cycle to pick up her new Yuba Mundo utility bike, and then towed her old bike home with it! She is chronicling her family's biking lifestyle on TinyHelmetsBigBikes.com.

In her words:
"We love biking! As a family, biking has always been a part of life. Our boys are growing up thinking that it is completely normal to hop in the trailer instead of the car. I hope to keep it that way. This year, the Bustamante family has decided to bike more and drive less. This is our attempt at documenting that journey. If we didn't have another year on our Prius lease, we'd be car-free. Since that is not an option right now, we pledge to become car-freer."
"My hope is that we are able to share with others the joy of using bikes as transportation, entertainment, and exercise. Most importantly, I just want to show that it is possible to choose pedaling over driving." |

We first met Kate over a year ago when she bought a child seat for her yougest son. Since then she has been saving up for her new Yuba Mundo utility bike. She is the loving mother of FOUR boys that she plans to haul around town. You can read all about her adventures living "car-reduced" on amomonabike.blogspot.com.

Here is an excerpt from her first post:
"I am hoping to make preschool drop-offs, grocery store runs, gym trips, and boy scout meetings mostly car free ventures. Eventually, as my stamina and confidence increase, I want to make longer trips. I have visions of cruising along chatting to my children, pointing out interesting sights, and feeling the fresh air on our faces. As an added bonus - we'll be making our bodies and our earth healthier with every pedal stroke." |

Dan in a nutrition coach and this BionX powered Yuba Mundo is part of his healthy lifestyle. His goal is to drive his car as little as possible. He was riding a motorcycle around town, then he switched to a "crappy ten-speed," and now he has found a nice balance between the two. Dan preferred the BionX over the kit that comes on the ElMundo because of the natural feeling of the pedal assist with a torque sensor. It feels like having bionic legs! This is the first BionX conversion kit we have done (or even seen) on a Yuba Mundo. It took a little creativity, but it turned out awesome.

Pizza Rock is the hottest restaurant in Sacramento. With a life sized Peterbilt Semi-truck crashing through the wall above the bar, a rock-n-roll take on Michelangelo's "Creation of Adam" on the ceiling, circus performers outside, pizza dough tossing acrobatics inside, a 10,000 watt sound system all around, and of course award winning pizza- what's not to like?
It is all part of an overall effort to revitalize K Street and improve Downtown Sacramento as a whole. Pizza Rock is one of three new venues developed by the visionary San Francisco nightclub operator George Kaparthy. On one side of Pizza Rock is District 30, a dance club designed for an older, more sophisticated crowd. On the other side is Dive Bar, which features a giant fish tank above the bar with real-life mermaids (and mermen)!
Now Pizza Rock is even more awesome! They have invested in not one, but two Yuba El Mundo Electric Utility Bikes from Practical Cycle to deliver pizza with!!!
The bikes will also be used to attract attention, so we installed bright red LED lights to make them really stand out. Pizza Rock had some custom signs made for the bikes that include the Practical Cycle logo (BIG thanks Koreena). They even designed some special seats for the Mermaids to ride on!

Jeff works for the CA Department of Public Health as an Active Communities Specialist, and he is also on the Board of Directors of SABA (Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates). He practices what he preaches and uses his Yuba Mundo Utility Bike to commute to work, haul groceries, and even take his young son to preschool. This weekend the father and son duo were exploring the nearby train museum, and they kindly stopped by Practical Cycle to say hello and pose for this picture.
